Southwick-Tolland Regional High School Reviews

I am a member of the class of 2008, and I am a junior currently. There are the good points of southwick schools, but honestly I do not like here at all. I sleep through all my accel classes and I have mostly straight A's. There are defintly some problems in the admistration, and there problems among the school that the admistration does not address and when students and parents try to get them to address they don't. Our sport teams are pretty good at least.

Raising a second child going through Powder Mill Middle School is stressful. I Who's watching the cookie jar in this school? Let's wait until high school for the note taking and give our child the books and resources they deserve to do well!

I think that this school needs to work on thier 'policy' and start acting like they care instead of just saying that they do. The teachers dont know anything the princables dont know what they're doing. That school is so un organized that it pushes away more students then they are letting in.

I'm a former student at STRHS. I went from getting almost perfect grades to being a high school drop out. The teachers at STRHS are horrible and the admistration is even worst. The school is drug infested, and I would NEVER send a child of mine there.

As a Past student of southwick high I think that the level of education is good, but when it comes to music and their sports they are basicly delt with people or persons with money.. This includes the music program.. I believe something should be done about this... I am a begining musician myself and im finding it hard to buy a guitar (Bass) package and raising $400-2,000 is hard.. Even for rental fees.. THeir should be a fund set up for theses people just dont let them hang.

I am the parent of a fith grade student at Powder Mill Middle School. My child has attended this school system throughout elementary and my issues with the schools policies and practices seem to grow larger with each year. I have also had the opportunity to work within the schools and seeing things from the iside only confirmed my concerns and perhaps deepend them. There is virtually no art program...notices for upcoming events are given with short notice if any and the child is chastised for not returning them earlier. Two hours of the currriculum is devoted to the MCAS during testing years and the kids are pushed to perform well on them to the point of extreme stress. This school system brings new meaning to No Child Left Behind...They all are! This will be our last year! A Concerned Parent

As a parent of a 2003/2004 ninth grade high school age student I'm extremely disappointed in STRH. In my humble opinion they could be doing a lot more to educate our kids. School administration and teachers seem complacent and satisfied in providing a mediocre product. There's no spark, no enthusiasm, NO NOTHING. The best teachers seem to be the first or second year hires. Those that have been there for some time have lost what it was that most probably attracted them to the profession in the first place. The so-called high ability classes my student attended the previous year were a joke...my student had virtually NO HOMEWORK and the freshman teaching staff (save one) was completely lack-luster and provided no guidance even when asked!!! As a result I've bailed-out and opted to go to another school to get what is needed.

If your child wants to succeed they can and will at Southwick-Tolland Regional High School! The teachers are caring and very qualified! The administration knows when to be tough when needed and understanding if the situation is delicate. I have 1 child who has graduated and another still a student, both hae done very well here! I give Southwick-Tolland High School a B+! They are trying very hard to improve even more during these tough fiscal times. Keep up th good work!
