St. James School Reviews

My daughter and son have already graduated from St. James and my third child is in 5th grade. We made the switch from public school when my daughter was in 6th grade. Her grades were slipping because the teachers had no control over the classroom. She, and my sons, thrived at St. James. There is structure and discipline, but the kids are taught basic religious principles like respect, kindness, compassion for the less fortunate and how to contribute positively to society through community service. The active participation of the parents in school activities makes all the difference. The teachers know we are partners in helping our children grow into fine adults. This school gives a very solid foundation and the students strive to do their best academically. Having volunteered for years as a lunch duty parent, I can honestly say the kids at this school are really fine youngsters.

I have 1 child going in to 1st grade she has done 2 years of pre school and just completed kindergarten. She has learned so much and is reading so much right now I love the school

I'm in 7th soon to be 8th grade! I love this school it is so helpful and were all a very large family.

My children have been students at the school since Pre-K3. My oldest child is currently in 8th grade. Choosing St. James was one of the best decisions my wife and I have made for our children's future. It has been a perfect fit for my children academically, spiritually and socially. Academically the school ranks high when compared to others within the Archdiocese. With two classes for each grade, the school is larger than most in the Archdiocese as well. With the larger student population, more academic programs become possible. Religion is part of the core curriculum and a fundamental component of the learning experience. The school's mission is: 'We must work to provide an environment in which parents and teachers collaborate in giving youth a complete Catholic education, striving to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ by fulfilling our obligation toward family, church, and society'. Parental participation is the key part.

I have had children in this school for the last 9 years and could not be happier with the education and environment provided by this school. My children who have graduated are in the top of their classes in high school and clearly have an excellent foundation for their academic future. I also believe the value based education has helped them develop good judgement. The principal continues to recruit excellent teachers and raise the bar in all areas of the school. the improvements in the aftercare program in the last two years have been remarkable. the kids really love going there and it's convenient and affordable.

I have 2 children at St James and cannot be more satisfied with their education. The tuition is less than the other schools in the neighborhood and the fund raising programs are family oriented and well attended. Other schools we looked at have mandatory fundraising as well but the building security was far inferior to St James security. If you can afford private school for your kids, this school was best value of the 4 we looked at.

Way too much pressure put on parents to volunteer and raise money. Very little help for the disadvantaged. Allergy free tables at use for everyone. Pastor decides what tuition should be, even if one can only afford a small amoun weekly. Tuition way too high for the non communication between faculty and parents. If you are either rich, or have 60 hours a year to volunterr (mandatory), then this would be a school for you. Being a religious school, children still have to pay to attend outside classes to receive sacraments. We only lasted three years there. If you are not 'in', you are out.
